Hillary's Redemption

Hillary was amazing last night! I have to say that I haven't always been a huge Hillary fan, but this speech was absolutely perfect. Not only did she "save her political career" (as the pundits put it) she also united the party. I'm very proud of her and know that, should she want it, there will be a place for her in an Obama administration.

I do still hear some rumblings about why Hillary wasn't seriously considered for VP(especially after this amazing speech). Here's my take on Hill and the veepstakes: VP isn't President and Hillary ran for President. Unfortunately, in the contest for President there is no second place. You either win, or you loose. The Vice President certainly isn't the "second place President" and to offer Hillary that position frankly, in my mind, would have been an insult. Hillary put in way too much work in the primary and is way too strong of a leader for a hands-off position like VP.

Hillary needs a position where she can be out in the spotlight advocating for change like she has for so many years. A position like Secretary of State, where she can utilize the strong relationships she developed with foreign heads of state, or Secretary of Health and Human Services where she can work (again) for universal health care would both be perfect.

Our nation will be better because of this truly historic primary and the work, passion and dedication of Hillary Clinton.

Now, did anyone happen to see Bill Clinton mouth "I love you" when Hillary first took to the podium? I'm sure that Bill does in some way love Hillary, but this was just awkward. Dude, everyone knows that you didn't love her enough not to cheat on her...and in the White House no less. So now, here's your wife in one of the biggest moments of the campaign and possibly of her career and you're thinking about ways that you can capitalize. "I love you." Sure, maybe it was emotion. Maybe Bill was just so overwhelmed by the amazing video tribute to Hillary narrated by Chelsea that he just had to say something. But honestly, at this point, their marriage seems to be more out of convenience than anything else. Bill may "love you" but Hillary, you sure as hell don't need his ass anymore. Bill was a great President, but now he is just plain weird.

ARRREEE YOUUU READY?!?!

So I'm surfing the internet and I come across this absolutely ridiculous article.

Yes, it's true. McCain has been endorsed by the all-powerful Daddy Yankee. You know, the Reggeaton star? Oh, you don't know? That's OK, he's really not that important.

Does anyone else think this is hilarious? Another desperate attempt by McCain to seem relevant. I can't wait to see who else they run out to try and steal thunder from the Democrats. I mean, come on Daddy Yankee & John McCain? There's never been a more awkward on-stage pairing in the history of human kind!

The scene is Yankee and McCain during prime time at the Republican National Convention: Yankee and entourage (read: scantily clad Latinas) pull up in a flashy foreign car, bounce around the stage and rap in incomprehensible Spanish (and you know the Republicans LOVE Spanish). Suddenly John emerges from the dark in sunglasses and baggy pants. Naturally, he's being pushed in a tricked out wheel chair by fly-girls. Yankee Raps. Cindy does the running man. John pops wheelies. All in the hall join together and sing "da me mas gasolina" in unison. America is moved to tears!

Of course, preceding this "tribute to America" Ann Coulter will give an invocation praising the Lord and cursing everyone else. And then, yes then, all the Hispanics will want to vote for McCain! They'll say, "Wow, he's just like us! He would be a GREAT President."

Republicans may not be able to guarantee security, prosperity or really anything, BUT at least they'll be able to provide a good show. And this election is all about a good show, right Paris?

Welcome to my new Blog!

So this is my first attempt at blogging. We'll see how it goes. I'm excited about it, I hope that you are too.

So I guess I should start off with the basics. I'm a 25 year old gay, Jewish male who recently relocated to Phoenix (after finishing an intensive two year grad program in Los Angeles) to be with my amazing boyfriend. He and I have been dating long distance for just over two years. The plan was that I would find a job in the public or nonprofit sector (ideally in the Jewish Community) before moving and have the means to move into my own apartment or condo. Well....that plan hasn't exactly worked out. I am still struggling to find a job and in the mean time, I've moved into my boyfriend's condo in Phoenix. So far I love living in the condo with him and his two awesome roommates.

What can you expect from this blog? Cutting edge fashion advice? Probably not, I'm not really that gay (however, I did like a good episode of Project Runway when it was still on the air). Commentary on the fucked up nature of the world? Possible. Exciting perspectives about life in this emerging metropolis? More likely. Rants and raves? Absolutely.

I look forward to the ride. Sit back and enjoy.
